I just had a friend call to say she would be in town in a couple of days and to ask if we could get together. Why, of course we could. I mean who turns down the opportunity to visit with a treasured friend? Not me. And I will come bearing a gift no less!!
Knowing that her favorite color is purple and armed with the knowledge that I couldn’t find a fleece blanket in the aforementioned hue, I ran to the fabric store and bought some nice weight fleece with matching yarn.
I trimmed the edges and rounded the corners and proceeded to crochet an edging.
Using a small steel hook (size 3) I “punched” a hole and attached the yarn with a simple knot.
Holding the tail to the back I started finishing the edges with single crochet stitches.
Spacing is about 1/4 inch down from the top edge and 1/4 inch from the last stitch. Make sure to crochet loosely or the edge will pucker.
Crochet around to the beginning stitch and join with a slip stitch. Fasten off and weave in ends. If you want more of an edging, pick a favorite edging pattern and use this single crochet edge as a foundation.
